We care about one thing: can you actually speak it?

There are hundreds of ways to "learn a language" and almost all of them measure the wrong thing. Points. Streaks. Words memorised. None of that helps in the moment you actually want it: a real conversation with a real person, at real speed.

The Language Edit exists to cut through that. We are an independent editorial site, not a course and not a company selling you lessons. We test language-learning tools the way a normal learner would use them, and we recommend the small number that get you past reading and into speaking.

How we choose what to recommend

  • We only recommend tools we would actually use ourselves.
  • We describe the honest tradeoffs, not just the good parts.
  • We never present someone else's customer reviews as if they were ours.
  • We keep the promise realistic. No tool makes you fluent overnight. The good ones get you speaking sooner and give you the confidence to keep going.

How we make money

Some of our links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. That is what keeps this site running. It does not change our recommendation, and we will always tell you when a link is an affiliate link.
